ABOUT THE BURSAR


The Globeleq Scholarship Fund (GSF) was launched in 2014. It is managed by Globeleq South Africa Management Services (GSAMS) and is funded by GSAMS’ independent power producers (IPPs) and one of its shareholders, the Globeleq Educational Trust (GET). To date, approximately R10.3 million has been awarded in bursaries.

THE GSF AIMS TO:

  • Help meet the demand in the renewable energy (RE) industry for technical skills
  • Create a skills pipeline for our company and the industry
  • Support and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the communities in which we operate, and the country as a whole.

The GSF is focused on

  • mechatronic and electrical engineering degrees/diplomas, nationally;
  • education, agriculture and nursing degrees/certificates for Eastern and Northern Cape students; and
  • various degrees/certificates for students within the 50km radius in which GSAMS operates.

About The Bursary


The GSF Communities Fund is available for various degrees or certificates for students within 50km from Aries Solar Power, Boshof Solar Power, De Aar Solar Power, Droogfontein Solar Power, Jeffrey's Bay Wind Farm, Klipheuwel Wind Farm, Konkoonsies Solar Power, and Soutpan Solar Power. Please make sure your home town falls within one of the circles on this map.

Who Can Apply


  • South African citizens
  • From the Northern or Eastern Cape
  • Pursuing a degree or certificate in Education, Agriculture or Nursing at a South African higher education institution in 2023
  • Will be doing their first year or higher of an undergraduate degree in 2023
  • Applications that are incomplete and that include misrepresentations will immediately be disregarded.

It is your responsibility to apply for entrance for your intended course and university and to ensure that you are able to meet the entrance requirements stipulated for your course.

You will receive a confirmation e-mail once we have received your application. You will be advised if your application is unsuccessful.

Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to interviews.

Required Documents


Please prepare the following documents:

  • A one-page statement clearly setting out why you have chosen your field of study and how you intend to use it after graduation.
  • One letter of recommendation from an individual who can speak to your personal character and/or your academic performance. This person should not be a relative or friend. Please include their telephone details.
  • A certified copy of your barcoded ID.
  • A copy of your CV.
  • Proof of your family’s monthly income. (e.g. salary slips or if unemployed, an affidavit to support this. Please include any SASSA grants)
  • All high school applicants must attach a certified copy of their grade 11 reports and matric reports to date. If applicable, please provide proof of provisional university acceptance.
  • All tertiary students must submit certified copies of their matric results and their most recent official transcript. For applicants that have enrolled at multiple institutions during their tertiary studies, please combine all your transcripts into one document. Proof of registration for students currently enrolled at a tertiary institution.
  • For applicants under the age of 18, to comply with POPI regulations a signed consent form completed by your parent/legal guardian along with a certified copy of their proof of identity is required.
